This is the second picture to [link] in the “My Mind” series which I’ve decided to start up. The first was ‘Read my mind’ and now it’s ‘Weighs on my mind’. Next up, ‘Out of my mind’! The cleverness.

It was so weird, I started up on this and it seemed like this woman, I dunno… she just kept… STARING at me. I couldn’t really stop looking. Is that weird??

WARNING: PREPARE FOR MAJOR RANT!!!!!! BACK AWAY NOW IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE BORED.

The chains for hair represent the obsession women have with beauty; something that has kept them anchored to the same, shallow spot for many, many years. We spend so much time and money to make ourselves look better so society will accept or notice us. We spend thousands of dollars on clothes, accessories, and make up and many, MANY hours in the bathroom doing our make-up and looking at ourselves.

Just think about this. All this effort for some self-absorbed, narcissistic perceptions we have about ourselves. Because, obviously, no one will like us if we don’t look good. No one will like us if we don’t look like EVERY OTHER GIRL that walks the streets. If we don’t conform, we’ll be shunned.

And it makes me think…. everything we do to appease other’s views about us is hindering us in our own evolution as women. Think about all the time and money we are wasting on these stupid things just because we don’t ‘look right’. Think about all the things women could do without those hindrances. It makes me wonder, would we be smarter without these things? Think about it. More time to study, learn, and observe the world around you instead of being so self-focused. More money to spend on education, charity, and simple comforts.

But no. We decide to chain ourselves down with our own egotistical perceptions and the fear that we won’t be accepted. We are truly enslaving our own sex.

Now, in NO WAY does this apply to all women. I go shopping maybe once a year and have the bear-essentials make-up wise, but I don’t go crazy. It’s the over-the-top women that I worry about, and sadly, some of those girls are my friends.
This is for you. Hope you can understand.

I love the concept and thought you put into this! Again.. Sorry to nit pick. Though I notice the lines for the eyes and eye brows aren't very dark. Those are normally the darkest part on a person and it just seems more noticeable with the bold outlines on the chains them selves. Regardless the expression is beautiful. You fading out on the edges adds a magnificent effect. Keep up the great work!

Thanks man!!! really glad ya like. =D :hug:
No, i COMPLETELY understand what you mean, i said the same thing to myself. The thing is, I was afraid i would ruin them if i went over them again. I didn't want to make it too dark either because it would be so hard to erase if I messed up (i mess up all the time, i go through about 3 erasers a week). very glad your like it though. =D

No problem! As for erasers. Have you tried a kneaded eraser? I'm not sure you can ever completely go through one of them. They are like a putty you can mold into and shape to erase with, then when they get dark you can crease over it with the rest of the eraser and you have a clean edge again. They are good for fine detailed erasing. I usually keep a standard eraser around for erasing larger areas as well. Hope that helped. ^^;
